Kathmandu: A clash has broken out between NCP (Prachanda-Nepal faction) and Nepali Congress cadres in Rukum West. As per the evening update, clashes are still going on between the cadres of both parties due to the dispute that started on Monday evening at Raadi Bazaar in Athabiskot Municipality-9.
Clashes have broken out between the two parties since Tuesday morning. Police fired nine rounds in the air to control the clash.
Police fired tear gas and did aerial fire to control the situation, said Rukum West Police Chief (DSP) Dhruv Kumar Shrestha.
Attempts are being made to control the situation. Though the dispute between the two sides was resolved at 8 pm on Monday, the clash resumed on Tuesday morning, said DSP Shrestha. There were 8-10 members of NCP and 10-15 members of Nepali Congress.
The situation has been tense since Tuesday morning. When both sides reached the area police office for discussion, one side attacked the other and the other side summoned people from the market, further deteriorating the atmosphere, police said. At present, efforts are being made to control the situation, police said.
